Culinary Dictionary: Letter J
I enjoyed doing research for letter J. I was surprised a pastry wheel is also called a jagger, and liked the ingredients for the Johnny Cakes so much I had to look up a picture of them; they look somewhat like arepas without cheese. I will try them soon.
Jaggery: coarse unrefined sugar used in many cuisines especially in Asia.
Jagging wheel/jagger: pastry wheel.
Jardinière (à la): served with a variety of vegetables.
John Dory: delicate white fish also known as Saint Peter’s fish or Saint Pierre.
Johnny Cakes : New England cornmeal pancakes.
Julienne: cut vegetables or fruit into matchsticks.
Letters A, B, C, D, E , F, G, H , I , J, K, L , M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z.

A J letter very common in Malaysia here is "Jagung" and people here like to use this to make cake. It mean "corn' in English. Your blog already listed in my blog list.

I love the word "julienne." It sounds like my sister's name and it makes veggies look so pretty. Those hand towels are gorgeous too. I spent an hour browsing Anthropologie with my girlfriend this weekend. It was lovely.
